SIGNS

From the Book of Isaiah: Again the Lord (through Isaiah) spoke to Ahaz, “Ask the Lord your God for a sign, whether in the deepest depths or in the highest heights.” But Ahaz said, “I will not ask; I will not put the Lord to the test.” Then Isaiah said, “Hear now, you house of David! Is it not enough to try the patience of humans? Will you try the patience of my God also? Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.”

There is no evidence I’m aware of that the Virgin Mary endorsed Hillary Clinton.

The Women’s March on Washington for the day after the Inauguration was initiated by a Grandma in Hawaii over Facebook. Sister marches developed in about 300 cities in the U.S. and dozens of cities around the world.

Perhaps the biggest one was in Downtown Los Angeles with organizers saying 750,000 participated. Others are leaving the estimate at hundreds of thousands. Hour after hour folks kept pouring into Downtown from all directions as block upon block filled with people. Aerial shots are the only way to grasp what happened. No instances of violence, or even rudeness, were reported.

My favorite part was the creativity of the signs folks carried during the march. Messages as simple as “Love Trumps Hate” all the way to “Feminism Without Intersectionality Is White Supremacy”. Many ones were very clever like: ”We Shall Overcomb”.

The day before the Women’s March in Los Angeles was the Caravan of Justice organized by Black Lives Matter L.A. along with numerous other groups. Four huge chartered buses followed by cars went to different spots in Los Angeles associated with President Trump’s Cabinet appointees to peacefully protest and disrupt.

The weather for the Women’s March in Los Angeles was gorgeous — sunny and sixty degrees. The weather the day before, Caravan of Justice day, was pouring rain.

Pastor Cue of the Church Without Walls in Skid Row told everyone the rainstorm was a sign from God since weeks earlier the hashtag was created #wearethestorm.

This idea of signs as Heaven speaking to Earth might seem very strange to many people, but we have entered the strangest of days.
